Controlled lifecycle
Draft, review, approved, released, obsolete — with the freeze enforced structurally. Changing a released document means revising it, on the record.
Revisions and history
Every revision retained with its files, so the document a supplier was actually sent is recoverable years later.
A taxonomy the tenant owns
Twenty document types and eighty-five subtypes seeded as a starting point, then edited in settings. It is a table, not an enum.
Attached to the object
A polymorphic link means a specification belongs to its part, a certificate to its batch, a drawing to its design — not to a folder someone has to remember.
Preview without a licence
PDF, image, Office and 3D rendered in the browser. Office files convert server-side through LibreOffice with metric-compatible open fonts, so layout survives.
Folders and templates
A folder structure per project or programme, seeded from a template so every job starts the same way.

- No full-text search inside document contents — search is over metadata and the object it is attached to.
- No electronic signature to 21 CFR Part 11 or EU Annex 11. The audit trail is immutable under Companies Act Rule 11(g), which is a different obligation.
